“He is no fool to give what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose.”
– Jim Elliot

That quote has a lot of truth to it. Why is it that I try to hang on to the things of this world? Why do I look to others for acceptance when I should be thanking God for my existence? I can be so preoccupied with myself that I completely miss the blessings that God is waiting to give me every day.

Another thought that came to mind is from the verse in Colossians that says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” It’s not always easy to do, but it’s well worth the effort. Today, my prayer is that everything I do would bring honor to God, and count for eternity.

“Only one life will soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

  1. That's good.

That verse in Colossians ties in with the quote of Oswald Chambers that you have... We should always strive to do our best, as to the Lord, and not to men. You can also find this same idea in Ephesians 6.
